Lew Phillip, renowned Inuit carver and former RCMP officer, has been carving since 1959. Born in Iqaluit, Nunavut, he is the youngest of four siblings, all of whom are carvers and sketch artists. Phillip has perfected techniques that are quintessentially his trademark. His sculptures of bears are famously known for their perfect proportions and his means of characterizing movement. A veteran carver, Phillip has participated in numerous international exhibitions presenting elegant and coveted pieces.
